For 2017 Cheshire Open Studios is inviting all Cheshire-based artists (including Cheshire West, East, Runcorn/Halton & Warrington), craftspeople and artisans to participate in our Open Studios & Annual Open Exhibition event. On average 40-60 artists take part every year providing a unique variety of arts & crafts to the public alongside fun and creative activities for all to enjoy.

We are delighted to announce that this year’s Exhibition Event will be held at Castle Park Arts Centre, Frodsham between 22nd September  to 1st November 2017. The Open Studios Event will be held over 4 weekends between 23rd September to 19th October 2017 plus any additional dates/weekdays during these dates enabling more visitors to visit more artists studios.

Exhibition Prizes on offer this year include:

  • Mayor’s Choice Award
  • Gallery Choice Award
  • Steering Group Choice Award
  • Visitors Choice Award
  • Best Newcomer / Emerging Artist Award (Sponsored by Northwich Art Shop)

Cash Prize Awards range from £40 to £200

The event is to be publicized in a full colour A5 brochure distributed throughout the region and beyond, on our website, along with press releases, radio, magazine adverts, posters and colourful large banners displayed in prominent locations during the event providing a great opportunity for artists to engage with a wider audience outside of their local areas.

Are you an artist with no studio or exhibition space?

Occasionally we  have other artists whom are willing to share space, so please contact us for more information if you need to share a studio.

You have two options for entering this year. Either Online using Typeform (works on all devices) or by post or email by downloading all project documentation below, then completing and sending us the relevant forms. 

In both instances please complete and send to us your completed:

a) Artist Statement (one to be completed for each artist)

b) Exhibition Entry Form (to be completed by all artists)

c) Open Studios Application Entry Form (Open studio artists only)

These should be accompanied by a copy of your Public Liability Insurance, Images of you and your work as requested in the application guidelines and appropriate application fee.



Exhibition Entry fee £10 per work, up to 2 works per artist. All media accepted.

Open Studio Artist Entry fees:

Individual Artists/Small groups (up to 3 artists) from £75

Artist Groups from £100 (more than 3 artists)

Entry fees can be paid by Cheque or via Paypal upon request (via payment request, no Paypal account needed). In this case just send us your entry and let us know you wish to pay by Paypal.



To enter Online, follow each link (click on each title) below, complete and submit to us the relevant forms. The forms are simple and easy to follow/use and work on any device. Each form provides helpful instructions, relevant information and is limited with up to 10 questions each, so you can complete them all at once or spread them over a few days. Submission of each form is automatically sent to us for processing once each form is completed and submitted (i.e. Submit button is pressed at the end of each form).

For those entering the Exhibition Only category only complete the first 3 Forms above (i.e. Stage 1 & 2 forms)

For those entering the Open Studios event please ensure you complete all 5 forms above (i.e. Stage 1, 2, & 3 forms).

Please ensure you click on the Submit button at the end of each form to ensure your application is successful and submitted correctly. 

Upon completing your forms you will also need to send us your images & copy of Public Liability Insurance by email/post and the appropriate exhibition/application fee payment. These should be sent to us by no later than Friday 4th August 2017.

All of the above documents are provided in Microsoft Word & PDF format where applicable. Use PDF format if entering by post otherwise use the Word format if emailing your application.

Unable to take part this year but would like to in the future? 

In 2017 Cheshire Open Studios is putting together a schedule of event and activities to celebrate 20 years of art in Cheshire. We are looking for a variety of art forms to participate and come together to help us truly celebrate the arts in Cheshire and are interested in hearing from performers, musicians, writers, and artists.
